Australia raises the bar for solar PV modules

The Australian Clean Energy Council continues to raise the bar for PV module standards in Australia. On 1 December 2018, the Clean Energy Council introduced new requirements meaning all PV modules installed in Australia must now adhere to IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 to receive support under the Australian Government’s Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme.

The adoption of the standards resulted in more than 1500 PV modules being removed from the Clean Energy Council’s Approved Product List, reducing the number of approved modules to 1725.

If you want to list products on the CEC’s Approved Product List you can find out more about the product application process on the CEC’s website.

In another record-breaking year for the Australian solar industry, the adoption of IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 will ensure that Australian solar installations maintain their excellent reputation for safety and quality.
