Policy and Projects Officer

The Global Solar Council (GSC) is the voice of the world’s solar power industry on the global stage, a non-profit body based in Washington DC and representing national, regional and international associations as well as leading solar sector corporations. The GSC aims to enable the growth of solar power across the world to deliver on the promise of clean and distributed power, economic development and energy access.  

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and versatile Policy and Projects Officer. In this position, the officer will play a key role in supporting our policy and project activities to promote the rapid adoption of solar energy globally. The officer will work closely with the GSC team and collaborate with members and partners on projects and campaigns. Exceptional analytical and project coordination skills are essential for success in this role. 

  • Coordinate project activities and support the implementation of grants  
  • Prepare and organize deliverables, such as reports, presentations, policy papers, workshops, events and webinars 
  • Facilitate communication between the GSC and partners, stakeholders and service providers 
  • Coordinate GSC’s member-based taskforces and committees 
  • Analyze policies and market trends related to solar PV 
  • Build benchmarking tables and graphics 
  • Collaborate with the GSC team and assist in other activities of the GSC, including marketing, events, sales, members relations, and communication  
  • And other related tasks as needed 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Solar PV or renewable energy policy and markets; 
  • Passion for solar energy and the green transition; 
  • A good understanding of the solar PV or renewables industry and policy; 
  • Experience in coordinating projects or activities; 
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and organizational skills;  
  • A team player who works well with others; 
  • Versatility and willingness to support other activities of the GSC; 
  • Fluency in English (native or equivalent), other languages including Mandarin Chinese will be considered an asset. 
  • A motivated and dynamic global team in an organization with major growth potential; 
  • A one-year fixed-term contract on a consultancy or service provider basis, with a possibility of extension; 
  • Flexible working hours; 
  • Full time role (with part time or other models such as job shares considered); 
  • Remote working from anywhere in the world, must have right to work in your chosen country; London, Shanghai, Munich, New York, Singapore, Nairobi, Sao Paolo or other major hubs for international business would be desirable but not essential. 
  • Attractive salary dependent on location and experience with possibility for discretionary bonus structure with element of performance related pay.

Internship

The Global Solar Council (GSC) is the voice of the world’s solar power industry on the global stage, a non-profit body based in Washington DC and representing national, regional and international associations as well as leading solar sector corporations. The GSC aims to enable the growth of solar power across the world to deliver on the promise of clean and distributed power, economic development and energy access.  

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and versatile intern to support our work representing the solar industry. The intern will play a crucial role in managing relationships with our all-important members. This will require interpersonal skills, administrative work and a can-do attitude. 

  • Administrative and secretariat support including Minutes of meetings etc 
  • Business processes within the organization 
  • Data entry and updating of our Customer Relationship Management system 
  • Member relations and records 
  • Supporting communications work and content. 
  • Supporting other activities of the GSC including but not limited to policy, marketing, communications, events and members relations; 
  • Other activities and tasks as required by the CEO including supporting the CEO’s meetings and travel. 
  • A passion for solar PV, renewables and the green energy transition (required); a good understanding of the energy, solar PV or renewables industry (desirable); 
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with a track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders; 
  • Excellent writing skills; 
  • Excellent organisational skills; 
  • A team player who works well with others; 
  • Versatility and willingness to support other activities of the GSC; 
  • Experience in using sales and Customer Relationship Management software such as HubSpot (desirable); 
  • Fluency in English (native or equivalent), other languages including Mandarin Chinese will be considered an asset.
