Michael Kiza

Programme Management Expert

East African Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (EACREEE)

Since January 2017, Mr. Michael Kiza serves as the Programme Management Expert at the East African Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (EACREEE). His current role involves designing and implementing programmes in the areas of policy formulation, capacity building and investment promotions on renewable energy and energy efficiency to contribute to universal access to sustainable energy.

Prior to joining EACREEE, Mr Kiza served as a Programme Management Officer at the International Atomic Energy Agency (2010-2016), where he was involved in developing and implementing several national technical cooperation projects in utilization of peaceful applications of nuclear science and technologies to support sustainable socio-economic development.

Earlier he worked at the Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development as a Senior Energy Officer – Efficiency and head of nuclear energy unit (2004-2009). He also served in various capacities in the private sector (manufacturing industries) before joining the public sector, where he was instrumental in promoting industrial energy efficiency.

Mr Kiza holds a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Industrial Chemistry) from Makerere University (Kampala, Uganda) and MSc Sustainable Energy Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden).
