Sub-Saharan Africa, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)

Nopenyo Dabla is Programme Officer in charge of Sub-Saharan Africa at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which he joined in January 2016. In that role, Nopenyo works to support governments in the Sub-Saharan African region in the uptake of renewables in their energy systems in a collaborative effort among national, regional and international stakeholders.

Prior to joining IRENA, Nopenyo worked amongst others at the World Wind Energy Association as well as national NGOs working to promote renewables in rural electrification.

He holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Erfurt (Germany). He also studied Finance at the Hanze University of Groningen (Netherlands) as well as Economics at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain).
