We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and versatile Digital Communications Officer to take GSC’s communications to the next level.

The Digital Communications Officer will lead and execute GSC’s digital communications strategy to strengthen the organization’s global visibility, policy influence, and member engagement. The role will focus on developing compelling content, managing digital platforms, and amplifying GSC’s advocacy, events, and industry leadership through innovative content creation and digital strategies.

The Digital Communications Officer will report to the Strategy Director.

The Global Solar Council (GSC) is the voice of the world’s solar energy industry on the global stage, a non-profit body based in London and representing national, regional and international associations as well as leading solar sector corporations.

The GSC aims to enable solar energy to deliver on the promise of clean and distributed power, economic development and energy access.

About the role

The Digital Communications Officer will lead and execute GSC’s digital communications strategy to strengthen the organization’s global visibility, policy influence, and member engagement. The role will focus on developing compelling content, managing digital platforms, and amplifying GSC’s advocacy, events, and industry leadership through innovative content creation and digital strategies.

The Digital Communications Officer will report to the Strategy Director.

Tasks

The tasks of the Digital Communications Officer will include:

  • Managing and implementing GSC’s digital communications strategy across website, social media, and email platforms.
  • Developing visual and multimedia content (graphics, short videos, infographics) using in-house tools.
  • Overseeing content planning and publishing calendar across digital platforms aligned with the overall Communications plan and objectives.
  • Amplifying member achievements and industry milestones through digital storytelling.
  • Maintaining and updating website content (news, publications, events, blogs, multimedia).
  • Developing professional and visually striking presentations for the team to use at events, internal meetings and for business development purposes.
  • Maintaining consistent GSC branding across the team and different platforms.
  • Tracking, analysing, and reporting on digital performance metrics (website traffic, engagement, growth).
  • And other related tasks as needed.
Profile

Education

  • University degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in communications, journalism, marketing, international relations, or a related field.

Professional Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in digital communications, preferably in energy, climate, sustainability, or international policy.
  • Demonstrated experience in content creation (graphic design, video editing, infographics, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) and associated tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, etc.) and website CMS systems.
  • Experience with email marketing tools and analytics platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Google Analytics, social media insights).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Experience working with trade associations, international organizations, or membership-based bodies is desirable.
  • Experience managing/implementing corporate brand identity.
  • Ability to translate technical or policy content into clear, engaging visual/digital content and storytelling for different profiles of audiences.
  • Knowledge of the global solar PV sector and energy transition policy landscape is desirable.
  • Strong IT skills with familiarity in leveraging AI tools.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English (additional languages are an asset).
  • Good understanding of latest digital communications and social media trends.
  • A team player who works well with others.
  • Versatility and willingness to support other activities of the GSC.
  • Ability to travel and participate in international forums.
