Global Solar Council

The Global Solar Council is an international organization founded in 2015 to coordinate the efforts of the world’s solar energy associations. We strive to convey three key messages about solar power.

"It’s now almost universally recognised that solar will be a principal contributor to addressing climate change,” says John Smirnow, secretary-general of the newly formed Global Solar Council. “I don’t think there’s any doubt about that." - Scaling up solar after Paris, Ben Willis, (February 18, 2016)

About Us

The Founding Members of the organization are national and regional solar associations from both established and emerging markets, including the world's largest markets of Australia, China, Europe, India and other Asian countries, Middle East, South America and the United States. Leading corporations across the solar supply chain also help lead the organization through the Global Solar Council Leadership Forum.

GSC’s vision is to ensure that solar energy is the leading contributor to the world’s energy system. GSC’s mission is to encourage the rapid and wide-scale adoption of solar energy through cooperation, education and training.
