The Global Solar Council is an international organization founded in 2015 to coordinate the efforts of the world’s solar energy associations. We strive to convey three key messages about solar power.

About Us

The Founding Members of the Global Solar Council (GSC) are national and regional solar associations from both established and emerging markets, including the world's largest markets of Australia, China, Europe, India and other Asian countries, Middle East, South America and the United States. Leading corporations across the solar supply chain also help lead the organization through the Global Solar Council Leadership Forum and are essential founding members to the organization as well. 

GSC’s vision is to ensure that solar energy is the leading contributor to the world’s energy system, by aiming to create 10 million solar jobs by 2030. GSC’s mission is to encourage the rapid and wide-scale adoption of solar energy through cooperation, education and training.

Global Solar Council Selects New CEO

The Global Solar Council has selected Jodie Roussell to be the Council’s new Chief Executive Officer. Roussell will assume the new role on 1 August 2017. The Global Solar Council represents national and regional solar associations, and the leading global corporations operating in solar, across an industry that now employs over 3 Million people worldwide.

“Roussell’s 15 year career in solar power combined with experience in the US, Europe and Asia brings a unique perspective on the global business and policy landscape and make her the ideal choice to lead the Council.” said Bruce Douglas, Chairman of the Global Solar Council and Chief Operating Officer of SolarPower Europe.     “I am excited to work with Roussell to deliver world class member services, including market opening & trade missions, deliver new opportunities for partnerships, and raise the bar for the entire global solar industry” he added.

Prior to her current role as Head of Public Affairs for Trina Solar in Europe, Africa & Latin America, Roussell was co-founder of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and the European campaign the Alliance for Affordable Solar Energy (AFASE). She also served as Head of Energy Utilities & Technology at the World Economic Forum, and led Strategy & Corporate Development at JA Solar.
