Playing a key role in the low-carbon economy, Brazil added 15 GW of solar PV capacity in 2024, bringing its total to over 56 GW – now second only to hydroelectric power.

An emerging application, agrivoltaics, provides synergy between PV technology and agriculture to mutual benefit. Rio Grande do Sul has the fourth largest installed base of PV generation and is also Brazil’s fourth largest grain producer. Moreover, expanding distributed generation by using renewables and improving energy storage are crucial for reducing the effects of climate change in the country’s south. Against this promising backdrop, Solar Promotion International and Aranda Eventos will host the Intersolar Brasil Sul Conference in Porto Alegre on October 27–28, 2026.
