China Installed 65.7 GW New Solar PV Capacity In 11M/2022 & More From JA Solar, Boamax, Han’s & Zhejiang Taiqu

NEA says China installed 65.7 GW new solar in 11M/2022; JA Solar to establish 10 GW n-type cell and 10 GW n-type module capacity in Dongtai; Boamax to invest in HJT cell, module and wafer capacity with Etuoke; Han’s & Zhejiang Taiqu will co-invest in PV, including TOPCon technology.

China’s cumulative installed PV now 370 GW: The National Energy Administration (NEA) counts China’s total installed solar power capacity at the end of November 2022 to have reached 372 GW, with an annual increase of 29.4%. This includes 65.71 GW added within 11M/2022. Investment on solar power generation of major power generation enterprises in the country went up 290.1% to RMB 200 billion. During 9M/2022, China installed 52.6 GW new PV meaning between October 2022 and November 2022, it added 13.11 GW. Rethink Energy expects China to exit Q4/2022 with 42 GW installed and 2022 with 94 GW (see Rethink Energy Expects 222 GW Global Solar Installations In 2022).

JA Solar fabs in Dongtai: JA Solar has signed a framework agreement with Municipal Government of Dongtai to build 10 GW n-type high efficiency cell, and 10 GW n-type module production capacity in Dongtai High-Tech Zone, Yancheng city. Calling Yancheng an important location in the Chinese PV industry with its industrial clusters, JA Solar said it will start construction on site as soon as possible. Once online, these projects will enhance its n-type production capability and meet the growing needs of its global customers.

Boamax to invest HJT production: Suzhou Boamax Technologies has announced that along with Etuoke Qichengyuan Green Energy Investment, it will jointly invest in 2 GW thin wafer production, 2 GW heterojunction (HJT) cells and 2 GW HJT module production projects. It aims to invest RMB 1.86 billion on bringing these projects online. Construction is targeted between April 2023 and April 2024. Project company will be called Inner Mongolia Baoxin Green Energy New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

Han’s and Taiqu to cooperate in PV field: Han’s Photovoltaic entered a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Taiqu New Energy and People’s Government of Xingwen County of Sichuan province to cooperate in several fields, including solar PV. Zhejiang Taiqu has plans to build 8 GW TOPCon solar cell production project in Xingwen with RMB 3 billion investment. It is expected to be commercially operational in March 2023 when it will generate an annual output worth RMB 7 billion. Through the strategic agreement, the partners will collaborate on high efficiency TOPCon cells, construct R&D centers, provincial level laboratory test platforms, and the like.
