About the Global Solar Council
The Global Solar Council (GSC) is the voice of the world’s solar energy industry on the global stage, a non-profit body legally registered in London with a globally remote team and representing national, regional and international associations as well as leading solar sector companies from the whole value chain.
The GSC unites the global solar industry to ensure that solar is at the heart of a new energy economy.
We are looking for two enthusiastic and versatile candidates for the position of Market Intelligence Intern and Policy Intern. In this position, the interns will play a key role in supporting GSC’s Market Intelligence and Policy team.
The tasks of the Market Intelligence Intern and Policy Intern will include:
- Support the GSC’s policy advocacy and market intel products
- Research, data collection, trend analysis, and identifying key findings on global solar supply chain, installations status and outlook, auctions, power procurements mechanism, policies, asset owners and operators’ trends
- Create and update the database and summaries including but not limited to the global market specific solar project pipeline (especially Africa), global solar auctions and asset owners/operators trend analysis and solar supply chain database
- Keep abreast of regional/market specific solar/storage market trends
- Support in stakeholder mapping, survey, consultations based on projects requirements
- Support in drafting the content for concept note, policy position papers, task forces (taking meeting minutes)
- Research on Agri-PV and Floating Solar PV market potential and policies
- Support in handling events and product launch such as comms, member engagements etc.
Requirements:
- Post graduation in power/renewable energy/energy with knowledge of solar sector will be preferred
- Research experience and understanding of Solar and Storage is highly regarded
- Good skill set of research, data collection, qualitative and quantitative analysis, presentation and communication
- Proficient in MS office applications and creating survey plus consultations forms
- Proficient in Excel including experience working with medium/large datasets and building models
- Good understanding of renewable sector essentially for solar and storage at global level including its technology and supply chain, policy and regulations, geopolitics and trade policies, price dynamics, and stakeholders mapping
- Understands climate goals, NDCs, net zero and decarbonization concepts, carbon footprints, sustainability aspects
- Available to work 8-hours a day for five weekdays from the choice of place starting from 1H June 2025. It is for a duration of 6 months and is extendable if needed and agreed between GSC and Intern.
- Shall have own equipment and tools necessary for the provision of the job description, including but not limited to a laptop, mobile phone, camera, internet connection, and any software required to perform the services.
- Available to, on reasonable notice, to provide the services during standard business hours (IST), with flexibility to accommodate other time zones.
- Fluency in English (native or equivalent), other languages including Spanish, French, Hindi will be considered an asset.
Benefits:
A monthly stipend as per the location will be offered for the 6 months period. Based on internship performance, GSC may offer a full-time role within the team.
