On February 16, 2022, the " PV industry 2022 Development Review and 2023 Prospects Conference" hosted by China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) was held in Beijing.

During the conference, Mr. Wang Bohua, Honorary Chairman of CPIA, introduced the development of China's photovoltaic industry. In 2022, China's newly installed PV reached 87.41GW, an increase of 59.3% year-on-year, setting the highest annual record for newly installed PV capacity and ranking first PV market for 10 consecutive years. Among them, distributed segment new installations reached 51.1GW, up 74.5% year-on-year; utility scale newly installed 36.3GW, up 41.8% year-on-year. The cumulative installed capacity of PV reached 392.61GW, which means China ranking the largest PV market for 8 consecutive years. Looking ahead to 2023, in terms of industry scale, expansion projects will be expanded, and the investment tends to be diversified.

On the conference, two important research results of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association “China PV Industry Development Roadmap (2022-2023)” and “PV combined with energy storage project application casebook” were released.

The China PV Industry Development Roadmap contains annual updates on the latest technological advances in industry, as well as forecasts for technology development trends through 2030. This is the seventh consecutive year that CPIA publishes the roadmap which has become an important reference material for people to understand trends and enterprises to make decisions. According to the latest development situation of the industry and the requirements of technological advancement, the 2022-2023 version has made some more innovations, including new energy storage chapter, N-type battery related segmentation indicators, and domestic production rate indicators of some materials and devices. The total number of indicators has increased to 81, reflecting the development status and trend of the industry, technology and market.

The first released “PV combined with energy storage project application casebook” includes a total of 23 typical PV combined with energy storage projects in five categories, covering four major types of energy storage projects. These projects not only vividly show the active exploration and practice of energy storage in PV power generation, but also fully reflect the broad application prospect of energy storage in industrial and commercial parks, transportation, desert management, agriculture, construction and other fields, with strong reference significance and promotion value.

On this conference, leaders from government authorities, industry experts and enterprise representatives expressed their views on the production and application of PV industry, technological innovation, future development direction, opportunities and challenges faced, etc.
