Global Solar Council at COP30

From Paris to Belém: Celebrating 10 Years of Solar Leadership

At COP30 in Belém, Brazil, the world will mark 10 years since the Paris Agreement — a decade that has seen solar energy move from promise to power.

For the Global Solar Council (GSC), this milestone carries special meaning. Founded at COP21 in Paris, GSC was created to give the global solar PV industry a unified voice in accelerating the clean energy transition.

Now, ten years later, we return to the global climate stage to celebrate a decade of unprecedented solar growth — and to shape the decade ahead, where solar + battery storage will underpin both mitigation and adaptation worldwide.

Throughout COP30, GSC and its partners will host and co-organise a series of high-level events highlighting how solar energy and storage are powering resilience, energy security, and inclusive growth.

These discussions build on the Council’s latest thought leadership, including:

GSC Events at COP30:

GTI Forum: 100×100 Global Launch – 100 Islands, 100% Renewable

11 November | 11:00–12:15 | Global Renewables Hub (Blue Zone)

Partners: Greening the Islands Foundation, Blue Planet Alliance, Global Renewables Alliance, IRENA, Global Solar Council

Objective: Showcase islands as pioneers of the clean-energy transition through the 100×100 Campaign, positioning 100% renewables as a global goal and model for resilient, sustainable communities.

300 Million Solar Homes by 2030: How Rooftop Solar Is Our Superpower to Achieve 3×Renewables

12 November | 13:30–14:45 | Global Renewables Alliance Pavilion (Blue Zone)

Partners: Smart Energy Council (SEC, Australia) Global Solar Council

Objective: Announce GSC’s 300 Million Solar Homes ambition — a global initiative to accelerate rooftop solar deployment as a cornerstone of the 3×Renewables and 1.5 TW storage goals by 2030.

The session will highlight finance, regulation, and collaboration needed to unlock rooftop solar everywhere, engaging governments, financiers, and local leaders to join the coalition ahead of COP31.

Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) Reception

12 November (Evening) | 18:30–20:00 | Global Renewables Hub

Partners: Global Renewables Alliance, Global Solar Council, member associations

Objective: Gather alliance partners, industry leaders, and policymakers for networking and informal exchange ahead of Energy Day — reinforcing collaboration across the renewables sector.

Women in Renewable Energy Networking Event

13 November | 17:00–18:00 | Global Renewables Hub

Partners: Global Renewables Alliance, Global Solar Council

Objective: Highlight women’s leadership and inclusion across the energy transition, fostering visibility and collaboration among women in renewables.

Unlocking the Potential of PV+: Integrating Solar Energy for Sustainable Development

14 November | 17:20–18:20 | SDG Pavilion (Blue Zone)

Host: Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA)

Co-organizers: United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), Global Solar Council

Objective: Launch the flagship report “PV+ and Opportunities for South–South Cooperation: Solar Energy Use for Sustainable Development,” highlighting how integrated solar + battery storage applications (PV+) can power sustainable growth, economic resilience, and SDG delivery across developing regions. The event will present key policy recommendations, enabling frameworks, and cooperation pathways to accelerate PV+ deployment through national strategies and international partnerships.

GSC 10-Year Anniversary Celebration

14 November | 19:00–23:00 | Chácara Quodesh, Travessa Rio D’ouro, nº 120 – Coqueiro, Ananindeua, PA

Partners: ABSOLAR, Intersolar, GCL, LONGi, Open Solar

Objective: Celebrate ten years of solar leadership — bringing together members, partners, and allies to honour shared progress and launch the next decade of solar + storage ambition.

Solar + Storage: How Solar Plus Storage Is Critical to Achieving Energy Security

15 November | 10:00–11:15 | Global Renewables Hub (Blue Zone)

Partners: IRENA Coalition for Action, Global Solar Council

Objective:

Demonstrate how solar + battery storage strengthens energy security, enhances grid stability, and accelerates global decarbonisation.

Scaling Solar Skills: Building a Workforce for the Global Energy Transition

15 November | 16:15–17:15 | International Solar Alliance Pavilion

Partners: Global Wind Organisation (GWO), International Solar Alliance, Global Solar Council

Objective: Launch the Global Solar Training Standard to promote quality, safety, and workforce development for large-scale solar + storage deployment.

Agrivoltaics & Decentralized Renewables: Bridging Energy and Food Systems

18 November | 14:00–15:15 | IRENA x GRA Pavilion

Partners: GSC, GOGLA, IRENA Coalition for Action

Objective: Showcase Agri-PV as a solution for sustainable land use — linking renewable energy with agriculture to strengthen food security, rural development, and climate resilience.

A Decade of Progress — A Future of Possibilities

At COP30, GSC will reaffirm solar energy’s central role in achieving both deep decarbonisation and climate resilience. Through cross-sector collaboration, technology integration, and workforce development, the solar + storage decade can deliver a cleaner, fairer, and more resilient global energy future.
