Global Green Energy Industry Council launched at COP24

Gather Global “Green Forces” to Jointly Address Climate Change

Katowice, 11 December 2018 – The Global Green Energy Industry Council (GGEIC) is launched at COP24, aiming to serve as an information sharing and networking hub of green energy, with a mission to promote and advance the role of green energy industries in the world.

Global Green Energy Industry Council (GGEIC) is initiated and co-founded by the international or regional organizations: Global Solar Council (GSC), Global Energy Storage Alliance (GESA), International Institute for Energy Policy Innovation (IIEPI), European Biomass Industry Association (EUBIA), New Energy Industry Association Asia Pacific (NEIAAP), Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA), etc. Supporting organizations include Solar Impulse Foundation (SIF) and national solar or renewable associations from Spain, France, Italy, China, India, South Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Israel, etc.

Mr. Shi Dinghuan, Former Counsellor State Council of China and Former President of Chinese Renewable Energy Society (CRES), Mr. Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of Global Solar Council (GSC) and Chairman of Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA), Ms. Angela Grassi from European Biomass Industry Association (EUBIA) together launched the Global Green Energy Industry Council (GGEIC). Other guests who had joined the launching ceremony include Mr. Sun Lianming from the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, Mr. Simon Mueller, Head of IEA’s System Integration of Renewables Unit, Mr. Alexander Fisher, Head of Program for Climate, Environment, Natural Resources, GIZ, Ms. Ann-Cathrin Vaage, Leading consultant climate policy of Equinor’s Corporate sustainability, Mr. Harry Brekelmans, Projects and Technology Director of Shell.
“Developing green energy is an important measure to address climate change and requires the collaboration of green energy sectors worldwide.” said Mr Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of Global Solar Council (GSC), Chairman of Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA), on behalf of the founding organizations, “As the energy transition unfolds around the world, Global Green Energy Council will develop to be the bridge and the link between various types of green energy and among various countries and regions. It is committed to solve the challenges of unbalanced and insufficient development of green energy, promote the transformation of energy production and consumption, and improve the human environment.”
