GSC's top management is further strengthened through the appointment of prominent experts from Amarenco and ISES

Eva Vandest and Dave Renne elected new Vice-Chairs of the GSC

Following the induction of the new Chair, SolarPower Europe’s Máté Heisz, and the election of the new Chair-Elect, ABSOLAR’s Rodrigo Sauaia, the Global Solar Council welcomes further renovation in the top management with the election of the new Vice-Chairs, Eva Vandest and David S. Renne, for the period 2023-2024.

Eva Vandest brings her experience as Group Head of Public Affairs at Amarenco Group, in addition to her role as the Chair of the Agrisolar Workstream at SolarPower Europe, to the role at Global Solar Council, where she can count on this invaluable breadth of knowledge to help guide the activities for the coming years.

“As Vice-Chair of Global Solar Council I will aim to support the next development of Solar at a global level and contribute to the most important passage of our century with passion through a political, legal and strategic contribution of influence.”

David Renne brings his 45 years in the renewables industry, as well as his experience as President of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) from 2010-2019, not to mention having been a founding member of the Global Solar Council. Mr Renne has been working on research and development projects in the renewables industry since graduating in 1975, and has consistently been a passionate supporter of the Global Solar Council since its conception.

“The formation of the GSC is of critical importance to the solar energy industry, and I have a strong passion in building on the successes and strengthening the overall impact of this organization.”

The Global Solar Council trusts these appointments will be particularly successful in helping to implement its mission and takes great pride in being able to call upon such qualified and well-regarded professionals to join and reinforce the Executive Committee.

Building on such exceptional expertise, the GSC is organising its presence and agenda at COP 28 in Dubai this year, to ensure a strong representation of the key renewable energy source industry at such an important milestone. In fact, COP 28 will be of particular significance as it marks the conclusion of the first Global Stocktake, a comprehensive assessment of the progress made in achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. Thus, the GSC will highlight crucial gaps that still need to be filled to unlock solar PV’s full potential in supporting ambitious decarbonization targets and inclusive and secure energy transition. A fundamental priority is to develop and disseminate a common scenario for 100% renewables. That’s why the GSC has partnered with the main global renewable energy industry associations – the Global Wind Energy Council, the International Hydropower Association, the Green Hydrogen Organisation, the Long-Duration Energy Storage Council, and the International Geothermal Association – to establish the Global Renewables Alliance (GRA). GRA unites the global bodies representing the clean technologies required for net-zero, and will strengthen the private sector’s voice on accelerating the energy transition at key forums such as G20, the Bonn Climate Change Conference and COP 28.
