Chairman, Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association (TPVIA)

Dr. Hong has more than thirty years of experience in photovoltaic solar energy. He has served as the Research Division Director of Photovoltaic Solar Energy Division at the Industry Technology Research Institute (ITRI.), and Vice President and Plant Director of Sinonar Amorphous Silicon Solar Cell Co., which is the first amorphous silicon manufacturer in Taiwan. In addition, Dr. Hong was responsible for Power Subsystem of ROCSAT 1 for the Taiwan National Space Program. Dr. Hong has published three books and thirty eight journal and international conference papers, and is a holder of seven patents. Dr. Hong was the recipient of Outstanding Achievement Award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and PVSEC-23. Special Award for the outstanding contribution in the development of Photovoltaic industry. Dr. Hong has been elected the Academician of ASIA-PACIFIC ACADEMY OF MATERIALS in 2017 April. Dr. Hong has been elected twice the Chairman of Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association (TPVIA) from August of 2011 to July of 2015 and has been elected again in this year (2019).

Education: Dr. Sam Hong has a doctor’s degree in electrical engineering from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan.
